Compensate, recreate, rebalance. Wetland and waterbody restoration and creation projects designed to meet compensation requirements and generate a real, lasting ecological gain.
Several regulatory contexts now require the restoration or creation of wetlands and waterbodies: notices of non-compliance issued by authorities, projects funded through the Program for the restoration and creation of wetlands and waterbodies (PRCMHH) arising from the Regulation respecting compensation for adverse effects on wetlands and bodies of water (RCAMHH), compensation projects stemming from impact studies, or conditions imposed under a ministerial authorization. Beyond the obligation, these projects represent a unique opportunity to recreate habitats of remarkable ecological richness.
Our team handles every stage of a project: characterization of the target environment, design of developments adapted to the site and aligned with MELCCFP criteria, preparation of authorization requests, construction in collaboration with a well-established network of partners, and multi-year monitoring to assess the ecological durability of the created environment. Every project is designed to deliver the best long-term ecological value, beyond simple compliance with administrative requirements.
Characterization of the environment and analysis of the target site's ecological potential, supported by studies suited to the nature of the project. Identification of target species, ecological functions and natural processes to restore or create based on the mandate's context (notice of non-compliance, PRCMHH, mitigation measure, authorization condition, etc.).
Development of detailed plans for creating or restoring wetlands and waterbodies, using an approach aimed at re-establishing the site's hydrogeomorphological processes: land grading, microtopography, water supply management, planting plans using native species, and calculation of compensation areas.
Preparation and submission of ministerial authorization requests and, when required, federal authorization requests (DFO, fish habitat). Production of construction specifications and coordination with the partners responsible for carrying out the work.
Grading and planting work, in collaboration with our network of partners. Multi-year monitoring of the developed environment (vegetation, hydrology, wildlife, water quality), drafting of the reports required under the authorizations, and corrective interventions when necessary.
